I'm sure there are dozens of jokes about the clap...

so I won't bore you with any more. I will, however, show you my clap. I've even managed to drop down one of the stitches. I'm about 3 rows away from dropping the next one. Dropping the first stitch wasn't as hard as I thought it would be-many of the project pages on Ravelry say that the malabrigo lace is sticky. I didn't really have any trouble.

You all know what my favorite yarn dyer is. Stacy of Tempted Yarns had a trunk show at the LYS on Friday, and of course, I went. I managed to snag some Good Grrl in the Deviant Behavior colorway (why do I keep spelling "behavior" with a "u?" I always have to retype it).

Isn't it pretty?

If I say I'll never knit something, chances are I will.

I said I'd never knit a shawl. I said I'd never make a sweater. I said that the clapotis is dumb and not for me. What have I done? I have a girasole, a blackberry cabled cardigan, and now, a clapotis.

I finally found a use for my malabrigo lace. This poor yarn has been knit into an ill-fated skirt (frogged), a featherweight cardigan (frogged), and now a scarf (still going strong). The trick with the clapotis is that you intentionally drop stitches so that it has cute gaps. The malabrigo gives it a very light, airy feel. I think it will be dainty enough to work well for professional wear if I get into grad school.

I just keep CO

Since I finished those socks, I have CO a scarf and the diamond gansey socks (rav link) for DH. I'm using Lorna's laces (colorway is Franklin's Panopticon) for the scarf and Tempted Good Grrl (link goes to my stash-colorway Moonlight) for the socks.

Here's the scarf so far:

Please forgive the stoned look on the visible part of my face. Its is 2:30am CST after all.

The scarf is finished!

I finished my first scarf (the pattern is called My So-Called Scarf) last night! The yarn I used is Paton's SWS in Natural Pink. It's 70% wool, 30% soy. I added a fringe to it, and did not block it. Here is the finished product:

I gave it to my best friend as a birthday/graduation/Christmas present. I'm quite proud to say she loved it!

Link for the pattern to the scarf

There have been a few questions about what the stitch is on the scarf. I am a novice knitter and don't know how to explain it. So, I thought I'd provide you guys with a handy-dandy link to the pattern. Here it is:

Quick update on my scarf

It seems like I started knitting that scarf forever ago-here is an update. I decided to give it to my best friend for her birthday. Since her birthday is next week, she'll be getting it for Christmas instead. Here ya go:

I admit I got a little bored with doing the same 2 rows over and over, so I cast on a cabled hobo bag today. I'm only on row 2, but its going well so far.

Cast on!

I'm starting a scarf at the advice of Alliebooberz and my mom, rather than the awesome hoodie I had planned. Here's what its supposed to look like when finished:
And here's what I have so far:

I'm using a different yarn than what the other pic shows. Its more of a pastel pink to brown to green variegation. The pattern only has 2 rows, but I've had to cast it on 4 times before I figured out how to do the stitches.
