Cast on!

I'm starting a scarf at the advice of Alliebooberz and my mom, rather than the awesome hoodie I had planned. Here's what its supposed to look like when finished:
And here's what I have so far:

I'm using a different yarn than what the other pic shows. Its more of a pastel pink to brown to green variegation. The pattern only has 2 rows, but I've had to cast it on 4 times before I figured out how to do the stitches.

    I have no idea! I had to cast on 4 times to get the stitches right (and there's only 2 rows). Here's the website for the pattern:

    I had to search for videos on how to do the stitches on youtube.
